YMCA Birmingham wins best sustainable development award at this years Midlands Residential Property Awards

We’re excited to announce that YMCA Birmingham received an award win for our newest development The Vineyard and Chris Bryant Centre at this year’s Midlands Residential Property Awards.

The complex was officially opened earlier this year by The Princess Royal in May, who commented on what a great achievement the end of this project is for not only its service users but also the local community.

YMCA Birmingham appoints four new volunteer Chaplains

The new recruits will work part time for us, taking time out of their existing jobs to act as a listening ear for residents and service users.

National Apprenticeship Day 2016

We celebrated National Apprenticeship Week 2016 by hosting an Open Day at The Orchard on Friday 18th March in partnership with Erdington Job Centre.


YMCA Birmingham welcomes first residents into £4.5m flagship development in Erdington

After 12 months of building work, the first 25 residents have now moved into the YMCA accommodation on Reservoir Road, Erdington.

Funded in part by a £1m grant from The Homes and Communities Agency, the new development has 34 flats, all comprised of a bedroom, living room, kitchen area and bathroom, in a housing scheme called ‘The Vineyard’ – phase 2 of ‘The Orchard’, YMCA Birmingham’s ambitious redevelopment of its site on Reservoir Rd, Erdington. Our first ‘Love Food, Hate Waste Cook UP’ went really well!

The aim of the session was to show residents and YMCA linked customers what we can do with all the veg and fruit we throw away almost every week… money down the drain! Julie from Love Food, Hate Food lead the cooking session in our own YMCA Training Kitchen.
