Independent Living

When clients no longer need the support we can provide, it can often be difficult for them to find an affordable place to stay. YMCA Birmingham recognises that need and now provides some flats for ‘move on’ accommodation for people who want to live independently.

Applications for any of our Independent Living schemes can be made by contacting The Housing Team on 0121 477 4644

The scheme comprises of 24 self-contained 1 & 2 bedroom flats that are available to rent on assured short hold tenancy agreements.

This recently refurbished apartment block is located close to the Jewellery Quarter and is in easy walking distance of Birmingham City Centre.

This type of accommodation is suitable for people who are able to live independently.

You must be either in full time work and able to afford the rents or over 35 and receiving a benefit that proves you are eligible for Local Housing Allowance.

High Street, Erdington

Two recently refurbished flats above retail units on Erdington High Street with great public transport links to Birmingham City Centre.

There is a two and three bedroom flat on the scheme, the rooms in each flat are let out on an individual basis with residents sharing a Kitchen, Bathroom and Living Room.

This type of accommodation is suitable for people who are able to live independently.

Due to the share scheme, rents are low and ideal for young people employed on a low income.

The Vineyard

Our latest scheme is a new multi-million pound development next door to The Orchard in Erdington. It provides 34 units of 30 x 1 bedroom flats and 4 x 2 bedroom flats suitable for people who need an affordable flat, but not additional support.

Residents of the Vineyard will have access to all the facilities at the Chris Bryant Community Centre next door, but will also benefit from being close to local shops and amenities, and excellent public transport links.
