Support and Advice

We believe every young person should have someone they can trust.

Time and time again we have learned that sometimes the offer of a listening ear can be the first step to overcoming a crisis situation. Couple this supportive attitude with qualified advice, purpose built support hubs and staff experienced with working alongside other organisations and we can turn a simple conversation into an individual support plan to suit that particular young person’s needs, goals and hopes for the future.

Referrals

There are two routes into finding accommodation. For emergencies you will need a ‘direct-access’ hostel. There are a number in the Birmingham are catering for different age groups. For all other accommodation needs, you will need to book an assessment appointment to apply for a place in an appropriate hostel, flat or bedsit. Part of the assessment will be to match your individual needs and requirements with the accommodation that is available.

What to do if you are recently homeless

Becoming homeless can be stressful.

It’s important to secure a place to sleep as soon as possible and to stay safe and warm.

  • Before you do anything else, read our referrals information above
  • The next thing is to contact a family member or a friend you can trust and let them know what is happening

If you have been made homeless through any kind of aggressive or abusive behaviour or if you feel that your safety is at risk, then you should immediately call the police or an advice line. Here are some numbers that may help.
