YMCA Birmingham is an independent Christian charity, and a registered provider of social housing, affiliated to the national and international YMCA movement. With a turnover approaching £5m, we provide accommodation for 300 young people, many of whom have experienced homelessness, and support them to get their lives back on track. We also run three children’s nurseries, manage two community centres with conferencing facilities and deliver a range of business to business training, all of which create employment opportunities and deliver income for our charitable work.
With over 150 Staff and volunteers working for us, the HR team plays a critical role in delivering social change by helping us to look after our people and to help them fulfill their potential at work as we serve the people of Birmingham.
We are looking for an experienced HR Officer to join our busy HR team. One of your key responsibilities will be day to day management of our recruitment and selection function, from placing advertisement and co-ordinating the interview process through to ensuring that pre-employment checks are completed and that new employees receive an effective induction. In this varied role, you will maintain and develop our employee database, support managers and colleagues with HR related queries and produce employment related correspondence. We can also provide you with opportunities to develop your HR skills and experience in employee relations and training.
You will be able to fully support the ethos and values of YMCA Birmingham, translating these into excellent HR support in a way that upholds our Christian ethos whilst remaining open to people of all faiths and none. You will be self-motivated, flexible, highly organised, and have excellent interpersonal skills.
