Our nurseries are specifically designed with children in mind: large, bright, colourful play rooms and outdoor play areas, complete with modern equipment and a variety of age appropriate toys that children adore.
We believe that a happy and relaxed environment will help your child feel at home and secure when they attend nursery.
Our approach is friendly and informal creating an atmosphere conducive to healthy social interaction and sound emotional and physical development in their early years.
Our nurseries offer a range of flexible times and sessions to suit the needs of both parent and child at reasonable rates and as a registered charity every penny of our income supports our charitable work.
Learning through play
Early Years Foundation Stage – from birth to five years old
As a childcare provider, we must meet the criteria of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which is defined by the Department for Education.
This means following a structure of learning, development and care for children aged up to five years old.
We are wholeheartedly committed to the EYFS, ensuring that:
- Children learn through play
- We work closely with all parents
- We keep you up-to-date on your child’s progress
- We meet the welfare, learning and all-round development needs of children with different backgrounds and levels of ability, including those with special educational needs and disabilities
To help children reach their full potential, we deliver the EYFS curriculum of learning through play and planned activities.
The three main areas are:
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional
The further four specific areas are:
- Understanding of the World
- Expressive Art and Design
Nutritious food for your child
A well balanced and nutritious diet is vital to a child’s development. Our nurseries provide fresh, healthy, tasty and nutritious meals for the children daily. Our four weekly menus have been carefully put together, and your children will enjoy tasty cooking and snacks throughout the day. We are able to cater to any dietary requirements that your little one may have, and try to incorporate variety and new experiences into our meals!
We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children and should be centrally involved in their child’s experiences and development. We realise that it is imperative we gain the trust and confidence of you, the parent. We want you to be happy with what we do and how we do it. We also pride ourselves in understanding the importance of instilling confidence and enthusiasm in your child from an early age.
Each child at our nurseries has a learning journal which will be a record of your child’s interests, significant achievements and development throughout their time with us. We welcome parental contributions, including all significant people involved with your child, and we encourage parents to access their own child’s learning journal at any time.
Effective communication means there is a two way flow of information, knowledge and expertise between parents and staff. Staff are available daily to give feedback about your child’s day and to share significant events with you. Every interaction with you is based on a caring, professional relationship and respectful acknowledgement of the feelings of you as parents and those of your children.
We hold annual parent’s evenings, outings/trips, parent mornings, suggestion box and newsletters. We also ask you to provide photographs of your child with their family, friends, pets at celebrations, holiday’s etc. This will then be made into an ‘All about me book’ and will be kept at the nursery for your child to look through and show to their peers.
Our staff and the key worker approach
Our staff enjoy getting to know your child’s personality, comforts and routine to help them ensure they are comfortable in our care. In each room there are qualified and experienced Nursery Practitioners who hold up to date DBS checks. All our staff hold a BTEC National Diploma, NVQ Level 2, 3 and 4 or equivalent and senior staff hold Foundation Degrees and Bachelor of Honours’ in Early Childhood studies. Regular training is accessed to ensure they keep abreast with new regulations to provide a safe and stimulating environment for your child.
Each child will be assigned a Key Worker, a dedicated staff member who fully understands the learning, development and care needs of your child, giving you the confidence to leave your child at the nursery knowing they will be cared for in a way that is tailored to the information that you provide. Developing a secure bond with their key person allows your child to feel secure and free to explore and play whilst feeling feel safe within the environment. They Key Worker will have activities and quality learning experiences planned for your child based on their individual needs and parents/carers are given both verbal and written feedback, in form of Daily Record Sheets, about their child at the end of each day.
