We are very proud to announce that YMCA Birmingham have been accredited to deliver Mental Health First Aid courses, helping business, teachers and non-profits to understand the difficulties facing those living with mental health issues, and those around and supporting them.

In 2017, stress accounted for 44% of work related illnesses, and approximately 1 in 4 people will suffer from mental health issues in their lives. Despite these astounding numbers, the stigma surrounding Mental Health is still prevalent. We believe it’s time to face these issues head on. First Aid in the workplace is a staple, it’s time to make Mental Health First Aid to norm too.

Adele Biddle, Training and Employability Officer from YMCA Birmingham, has successfully qualified to deliver these courses, and offers both in house and on site training.

“My passion lies in being able to show people how to spot early signs of a mental health illness, including warning signs of common mental health issues , how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person towards appropriate treatment and other sources of supportive help.”

If you require an “in house” training course we are able to customise a programme, with emphasis on specific units and subjects to enable the learning outcomes that you as an organisation require. Please contact us to discuss options that are available to meet your needs.

“I approached YMCA Birmingham with an idea of delivering training that was specific to our organisation’s requirements and individuals. We had experienced problems in finding a training organisation who actually listened to what we wanted. From that idea they developed a course that was unique in its approach, thought provoking in its concepts and entertaining in its delivery.”
