Our employability programmes offer locally focussed support to people within our communities across Birmingham and Warwickshire. As a community and person centred provider, we are proud to be able to deliver amazing programmes which help us to fulfil our mission by helping people live life in all its fullness! These programmes are usually funded through external partners and focussed upon tailored support to particular groups of people or particular challenges. Our programmes usually have an established duration and objectives, and are often located in specific locations.

YMCA Heart of England has teamed up with local job centres in Birmingham to provide a 10 week support programme for single parents, focussing on developing confidence, skills and knowledge as we continue through this challenging pandemic. Places on the Parent Journeys programme (PJs) are fully funded and aims to offer opportunities to meet like-minded people, share experiences and journey together through this challenging time.
The programme offers equality and diversity support, helps to improve life skills and routine and helps to develop self-esteem. Parents will be given the opportunity to develop cookery skills, understand more about healthy living and improved diet, develop budgeting skills and understanding of Universal Credit, as well as learning the benefits of being in work. Sessions will last 1-3 hours each and consist of face to face group and 121 meet-ups. Nursery / crèche facilities will be available so that parents can have a few hours hands-free whilst on the course.
PJs runs from April 2021 through to March 2022. Programmes run from our sites in Erdington and Northfield.
