YMCA Birmingham Training & Education have developed a number of short 1 to 2 day courses suitable for the needs of public sector organisations and fellow charities. All of our courses can be customised for in-house delivery and we will work with organisations to realign course learning outcomes to address specific or emerging needs of the organisation. We are able to develop courses from scratch, and will collaborate with organisations to do this using our extensive experience through our internal training staff and associate trainers.
Here are some of our most popular courses:
- Conflict Management & Conflict Resolution
- Managing Volunteers
- Suicide Awareness
- Substance Misuse
- Eating Disorders
- Housing Short Courses
- Mental Health First Aid
Conflict Management and Conflict Resolution
For any individual(s) that currently have the potential to face challenging behaviour, including potential or actual violence. We deliver a very popular course which looks at the causes of challenging behaviour, the range of coping skills available for defusing and managing incidents, and how to use non-restrictive physical intervention.
We offer two courses on this subject;
1 day awareness course covering; Conflict Management and Disengagement Techniques
2 day accredited course covering; Physical Intervention Techniques such as; Disengagement, Escort Holds, Contact and Withdraw, Containment and Relocation Techniques.
I approached the YMCA with an idea of delivering training that encouraged people to have an awareness of how they presented themselves in interviews, having had too many experiences of poor quality interviewees.
From that idea they developed a course that is unique in its approach, thought provoking in its concepts and entertaining in its delivery.
It brings together self-awareness, public perception and combines it with interview feedback to give the participant an understanding of their current skills and provides the tools for further self-improvement not just for the next job interview but also for current roles.
Attending this course is time well spent and I would encourage anyone who believes in self improvement of themselves or others to get on the course.
